Emails – Can you email your list too much?

4 Emails to your list in ONE day? Really? Don’t you think that’s a bit much?

No, I don't...

Too many people and even some marketing leaders make us feel ashamed of emailing our list. They complain and make out that emailing your list ‘too much’ will result in people hating you.

The Fact Is, I Don’t Believe You Can Email Too Much...

I'm human too and I worry about what people think of me and I worry about pissing people off. Although, I email my list around 3 times a week, sometimes more, and I know people who send emails daily & their audience LOVES them! Likewise, I have been known to send 4 emails in one day… (if you email around twice a month I’m imagining you running for the sick bag right now).

Consequently, In my last launch, I hesitated to send the last reminder that the early bird was about to close. ‘Surely they’ve had enough reminders right? They’ve had 3 emails already??’ So I wrote the email, and hovered over the send button. Then I shut the lid on my laptop, made a tea, gave myself a slap, and sent the email. And bam a sale!

PEOPLE WANT & NEED REMINDING!

So, If you find the emails annoying, unsubscribe. 

Furthermore, If you are scared of unsubscribes – why are you holding on to non-buyers?

FACT. I don’t JUST send promo emails, I like to share incredible value to make an impact on my readers. But, I’m also running a business & the people that like my stuff - want to buy my stuff – simple as.

Want To Make Sure You’re Delivering Impact Without Being Annoying?

Run it through this filter, as long as you’re hitting two or more of these as a yes then you’re good to send…

Is this email...

  • f-ing amazing?
  • relevant to my ideal client?
  • necessary?

If they’ve asked to be on your list and your emails are helping them (that includes selling them the product that will change their life) – email them.

They want your help, they want more you! Emailing isn’t sleazy UNLESS you spam.

Giving Out Free Advice? Then Know Your Boundaries

'Are You Taking The P*ss!' - They Will If You Let Them...It's all About Boundaries... 

A fair few of my clients have become friends and a few of my friends have become clients AND many people in my network who were neither, but, could use my services have also become incredible friends.

And this is where it can get dangerous for your business if you don't have boundaries. Because if you're not careful you'll become a friend with business benefits.

How many of us have had our brains picked over coffee?

We've all experienced this and it doesn't feel great and we can sometimes feel like that person has taken advantage.

But here's the #truthbomb...

...It's got nothing to do with them...but It has everything to do with you!

you don't set boundaries with yourself and you don't arm yourself with ways to respond to requests for free help then you will almost certainly have your services stolen from you.

...It's your responsibility to prepare yourself for these requests and situations.

Now the other side of the coin is - you may WANT to give away some stuff for free because you adore them...

BUT I want you to ask yourself this...

...is that fair to your paying clients? And is that person going to truly value what you are offering them?

I say feel free to give pointers but know where the line is and be prepared to 'handle' the situation.

Here are a couple of ways you could handle the situation...

  • Random prospect brain picking request - 'I'd be happy to chat through whether I'm the best person to help you with this, and I charge X to help my clients achieve 'X result' let me know if you'd like to chat and I'll send you a call link.
  • Someone you know on friendly terms asking for your help - 'I'm really excited that you're looking to move in that direction, I think that it's a great idea! I'd love to brainstorm some ideas with you, moving forward in terms of implementation I'd be happy to chat through formally working together if that's something you'd like to explore.'
  • OR if it's a more direct ask - 'Totally happy to chat through some ideas with you (if indeed you are -if not omit this part) but in terms of helping you implement for free, it just wouldn't be fair to my paying clients.'

So the lesson is...

Know your boundaries, stick to them and enforce. If they're professionals themselves they'll respect them and you. AND - you'll be helping them own and respect their own boundaries and value in the process. Because the truth is... if they truly value it, they'll pay for it.
There's a big difference between offering friendly support and actually taking someone through a process.

Feeling Inadequate About Your Sales? It’s Time to Learn ‘WHEN’ to Feel Out of Integrity…

In The Beginning...

When I first started out coaching, I saw everyone talking about how much money they had made that day/week/month as a kind of badge of approval. It was as if they were saying 'I'm clearly good at what I do because I'm making a ton of money'

This left me feeling super inadequate because quite frankly, the first 6 months of my business were drier than the Gobi desert. Don't get me wrong I was making some sales but they were super inconsistent and the longer it got between clients the more inadequate I would feel. 'How can people trust me to help them if I'm not making the kind of money I want to be making.'

A big lesson I had to learn in my business journey is to know 'WHEN' to feel out of integrity. 

This may sound strange but hear me out...

...back then, I wasn't helping people make sales. So why was I getting so caught up in how many sales I was making?!!!!

Check Yourself...

  • Are you feeling out of integrity for entirely the wrong thing?
  • What result does your client really want? It's not ALWAYS sales or money! I even see Health Coaches getting caught up with the 'I feel out of integrity because I'm not making sales.'

#Truthbomb...

 A Health Coach doesn't need to be good at sales in order to help their clients! They need to be good at sales for the sake of their business but just because they're not securing clients does not mean they can't help their clients & does not take away from how awesome they really are.

Unless you're helping people make sales as the main result of your coaching/service... it's time to let that sh*t go!

Or, Maybe You Should Be Feeling that way...

And if you are promising sales as a result and you're not making them yourself then yes you 'should' feel out of integrity BUT you can do something about it...

Stop promising sales! And fine-tune your niche and ideal client so that you can start helping with something slightly different that will act as a bridge 'toward' the sales.

The Secret to Creating the Perfect ‘Sell Out’ Package

You could create the perfect package if you follow the ‘rules’ in this post… BUT it won’t sell unless… (read to the end)

Creating Perfect Package that Sells Out can be attributed to one thing!

Urgency (but not just in the traditional sense):-

  • Why is buying your product so important that they buy it now?
  • Why is it a priority for your ideal client?
  • What is it the impact of them NOT buying it right now?
  • What do they desperately want that this product will help them achieve?
  • What pain are they struggling with that they’d gladly pay to solve to achieve their goal right now?
  • Essentially… what is their ultimate goal and why is it so important and urgent that they get it solved ASAP?

 If you can answer those questions with genuine answers and you can create a package that solves their pain point that’s standing in their way of the goal...

...and that package offers them new hope of reaching their goal, you have a program that has the potential to sell-out. 

Truthbomb...

What sells it, however, is YOU! You have to OWN YOUR GREATNESS and shout about it with confidence!

You have to show your audience that this product is worth its weight in gold and build trust by adding incredible value (for free) first to position yourself as the trusted expert and the best person to help them.

 You have to be the one that takes responsibility for its success and yells about it until you’re blue in the face because you KNOW that for the right people, this product will change their lives.

So yes, create something that they truly want, BUT more importantly, OWN IT!

3 Signs Your Business Will Be Wildly Successful

Have you been waiting for a sign that your business is going to be super off the charts successful and that you're going to dominate your niche?Yes? Well good news! I have three signs right here that if you nail, you'll know that the powerful potential is right there ready to be brought to fruition with some effort and nurture.

My story...

One of the biggest reasons I struggled in business is because I persisted with the wrong ideas. I was, as they say, 'flogging a dead horse' - any alternatives to that horrific phrase is welcome - ideas on a postcard.

It doesn't matter how dedicated you are to your cause, how passionate, how determined, how amazing you are, if you don't have the right idea, you're focusing too much on putting your foot on the clutch instead of putting it into gear and pushing the accelerator.

The clutch, whilst important to make the car work, can't be the only focus. The accelerator is what builds the most speed and momentum.  BUT the most important part of the process is actually choosing the right gear to make traction before you can build the speed.

Your business is exactly the same. Sometimes we can get so caught up in the mechanics of your own expertise that we forget what actually drives progress.


In order to ride the wave of success by hitting that gas pedal, we have to choose carefully what gear will give us the most traction to start building that momentum.
Choosing the right gear is the part that takes the most brain power and this is where business strategy comes in. 

Sign 1. The Right Gear

In the business world, choosing the right gear means choosing to solve a genuine problem. A problem is only a problem if it's stopping a wanted outcome OR is causing so much pain that it become unbearable to continue that way.

So many business owners are a 'nice to have' instead of making themselves indispensable. Instead of delivering what you want to deliver, deliver what's needed to a genuine person

Sign 2. Cold to Hot

When you have the ability to convert someone completely off your own merit (i.e. not through word of mouth),from an entirely cold prospect to a converted client, who then continues to achieve incredible results, you know all you have to do is find more people like them who have the problem you solve and repeat the process. MAGIC!

After years of incredible amounts of money being investing in the business without much luck, the owner of FedEx got incredibly excited when ONE person WANTED their product - because he knew if one person wanted it without a ton of convincing, there would be more like them.

Sign 3. Aligned

Passion alone is no basis for a business, but it is the fuel in the car. 

So if you are passionate about solving the problem and helping people reach their specific success island, and you know you are the best person to help them do it, then your tank is full and you're ready to go the long distance!

Do you need to make parent sacrifices for your success?

WARNING - CONTROVERSIAL CONTENT

'Parent sacrifices related to success' is a subject seeping with controversy, but it's so important to discuss...

With the School Holidays coming up I want to expose the BIGGEST LIE female business owners are told about!

‘If you don’t sacrifice for what you want, what you want will be sacrificed.’

I 100% agree with the statement above. So many women are sold the lie that ‘you can have it all’ but the problem is, ‘all’ is subjective from person to person.

A ‘few’ minutes of kindle time to my 5 year old is lot more than the ‘few’ I was meaning.

So What Parent Sacrifices Should We Make?

When we hear the likes of Gary V shouting messages about ‘hustle and grind’ the over worked mother and business owner can get angry because the only thing they feel like they have left to give is blood! And when we hear the likes of James Wedmore talk about a business by design that works for you so you can release time to do the things you love, it makes you want to kiss him. Both of these people polarise perfectly and I love them both!

But in the wrong hands, both these pieces of ‘advice’/messages will ruin your success. The excuse maker will lap up James Wedmores' message, and the workaholic could take Gary’s message and run themselves into the ground taking pointless action and hitting burnout.

Experience Shapes Opinion So...

Here’s what I believe as a mother of a 5 year old and as a serious business owner.

  • You can’t have it all!
  • You can’t live your life at a perfect balance of zero, nothing would ever get done. A business is hard work and it WILL eat into your family/social time particularly in the beginning when you’re testing out what works and what doesn’t and to be honest, that trial and error never really stops because it’s essential to watch your business grow.
  • Having a business isn’t for the faint hearted, in fact if you want to be able to have totally uninterrupted family time, you’d be better off getting a job where you can leave your work at the door and go and enjoy your holiday.

The Controversial Part...

Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying I don’t spend quality time with my daughter and partner, I absolutely do, but unless there’s a crisis or an emergency I put my business at the same level as I put them.

I know that last line will probably shock and put off a few people but at the end of the day if you want a successful business you have to be willing to put in the work where it’s needed and put in the boundaries of where to stop so that you can ensure you spend that IMPORTANT time with your loved ones and with yourself doing the things you love. But it’ll never be perfect, some weeks you’ll make more parent sacrifices and be working what seems like ‘all hours’, others will be less, meaning less parent sacrifices to be made, and you can spend more time nurturing personal time. But to think it will be a perfect and consistent schedule where you never break the ‘it’s 5pm so it’s time to stop’ rule on the odd occasion isn’t realistic when it comes to creating success.

I used to pay a significant amount on childcare so that I could spend the necessary time on my business.And guess what?- during the school holidays, I still do! Personally, I think if you’re starting a business because you want to spend more time with your kids… you’re kidding yourself. Yes it provides more flexibility but those hours still need to be put in.

No More Excuses...

I see so many people using the excuse (yes, I said excuse) of family time because they’ve lost passion for their business, or they don’t really know WHAT they should be doing to grow their business, or in fact have no interest what so ever in growing from where they are. On that last point that’s totally cool if you’re aware of that and are happy with that decision. For those that want to grow and build an empire business and become a name in the market, you have to be IN LOVE with the game, you have to have a game plan and you must be committed to playing it, win or lose!

I’m the kind of person who needs boundaries to stop work, because continuous pointless action WILL lead to burnout and neglect but I still very much believe in Gary’s message. Do what is necessary if you want to see results. It’s all about priorities.

My Message...

Don’t expect ALL the success if you only work when you ‘feel’ like it or when it's convenient.

'Some Of You May Or May Not Know This, But When I First Started Coaching About 5 Years Ago I Started Out As A Life's Purpose Coach'

tHEN...

I helped people find direction in their career by digging into their innate talents and the things that lit them up to find a more fulfilling career, I even qualified as a meditation teacher. Since then, I have pivoted a few times to get where I am now. I help Coaches & Experts to position themselves as a 'must have' in the market to easily attract their ideal clients.

But back in the day, I was heavy on the mindset piece. Yes, I'd read The Secret like everyone else about a decade back. But do not be alarmed. I am very aware that this book has about a thousand holes. When I accepted the fact that praying for things does not mean I am destined to receive them, I found made a lot more money. Funny that! But last night after pondering my week away and making the most of the head space that has subsequently been created, I realised that it was time for me to take a mindset sprint.

Working on your mindset should never be 'put down' as such, but there are times as human beings where heavy sustained effort on one particular thing does wain in order to make way for different focuses.

NOW...

But we're nearly halfway through the year and I'm rested. I'm ready and motivated to push past some of the blocks that I know are keeping me from my bigger goals.

I've noticed of late some past limiting beliefs slowly getting louder that I know in reality just aren't true. So I'm starting this mindset sprint today with positive affirmations...

'I Am...'

*** I am loved
*** I am enough
*** I am capable
*** I am a success
*** I am healthy
*** I am beautiful

But...Truthbomb...

I know from my woo roots that these will mean NOTHING unless I actually start to notice the evidence of all of these things as it stands right now. So with this, I will also be writing down the evidence that matches each of these statements no matter how tiny!

The Challenge...

So I'm setting you a challenge. Write down your 'I am...' statements. Start writing down the evidence of each one, and make it your personal challenge to find the smallest and the largest piece of evidence possible on your evidence list!

The point?

I guarantee you'll feel more empowered to reach your goals than you do right now. Don't have concrete goals? Then before you do anything else, write down the following:-

For this month, quarter or the next 6 months (you can do all or pick the time frame which feels good to you)

*** How much money do you want to make?
*** How many clients do you want/need to work with to make that amount?
*** What personal achievement(s) do you want to make?
*** What is your main health goal?
*** What are the things that you want to do that will make you beam ear to ear? (not to accomplish but that will make you beam just through the act of doing)
